Creation Revealed By Vision

The six days of Genesis 1 have been debated hotly throughout the history of Jewish and Christian interpretation of the passage. It is typically agreed that the six days refer to the amount of time taken by God to carry out all the creative acts described in Genesis 1. However, there is a very wide range of interpretation concerning exactly what those acts were, what was created by them, how long the days themselves are, and whether the creative acts of the six days encompass the entire universe, and whether they involve actually creating the universe or simply restoring an existing planet.

Age of the Universe

Question: When did the Jewish people start believing the world is only 5773 years old? (This question was asked in 2012.) If the universe is indeed billions of years old what does 5773 commemorate? Finally why can’t orthodoxy accept the fact that the universe is billions of years old? The Torah does not state how old the universe is. It does not diminish the concept of a creator in any way.

Limestone Caves: A Result of Noah’s Flood?

Late one summer’s afternoon in 1901, a cowboy named Jim White was riding through the arid foothills of the Guadalupe Mountains in south-east New Mexico. Suddenly he was startled by a huge black cloud rising from the ground in front of him. He reined his horse to a stop. This cloud was not like any he had seen before, so he decided to see what made it different.

Rapid Stalactites

Those beautiful stone ‘icicles’ you see hanging from the ceiling of limestone caves are called stalactites (they ‘stay tight’ on the ceiling). The forms you see growing up from the cave floor are called stalagmites. When they meet, the joined pair becomes a column. Sheet-like layered deposits on cave walls or floors are called flowstone.

How Old is the World?

The secular world continually disputes our belief that the world is less than six thousand years old. Their arguments are supported by the many stones and fossils which have been found, dating, according to their scientific calculations, millions of years back.

Science & Faith

In this episode, the focus is on the apparent tension between science and faith, and that there is no conflict between a deep religious faith and scientific research. And we should start with recognizing that the Bible’s purpose may have been something other than explaining how the world was put together in its physical structure.

Charles Darwin

Charles Robert Darwin, (/ˈdɑːrwɪn/; 12 February 1809 – 19 April 1882) was an English naturalist, geologist and biologist, best known for his contributions to the science of evolution. He established that all species of life have descended over time from common ancestors, and in a joint publication with Alfred Russel Wallace introduced his scientific theory that this branching pattern of evolution resulted from a process that he called natural selection, in which the struggle for existence has a similar effect to the artificial selection involved in selective breeding.

Creation science

Creation science or scientific creationism is a branch of creationism that claims to provide scientific support for the Genesis creation narrative in the Book of Genesis and disprove or reexplain the scientific facts, theories and scientific paradigms about geology, cosmology, biological evolution, archeology, history, and linguistics.

Creationism

Creationism is the religious belief that the universe and life originated “from specific acts of divine creation,” as opposed to the scientific conclusion that they came about through natural processes. The first use of the term “creationist” to describe a proponent of creationism is found in an 1856 letter of Charles Darwin describing those who objected on religious grounds to the emerging science of evolution.

Young Earth creationism

Young Earth creationism (YEC) is the religious belief that the Universe, Earth and all life on Earth were created by direct acts of God less than 10,000 years ago. Its primary adherents are Christians who subscribe to a literal interpretation of the creation narrative in the Bible’s Book of Genesis and believe that God created the Earth in six 24-hour days. In contrast to YEC, old Earth creationism is the belief in a metaphorical interpretation of the Book of Genesis and the scientifically-determined estimated ages of the Earth and Universe.
