Creation Revealed By Vision
The six days of Genesis 1 have been debated hotly throughout the history of Jewish and Christian interpretation of the passage. It is typically agreed that the six days refer to the amount of time taken by God to carry out all the creative acts described in Genesis 1. However, there is a very wide range of interpretation concerning exactly what those acts were, what was created by them, how long the days themselves are, and whether the creative acts of the six days encompass the entire universe, and whether they involve actually creating the universe or simply restoring an existing planet.
Age of the Universe
Question: When did the Jewish people start believing the world is only 5773 years old? (This question was asked in 2012.) If the universe is indeed billions of years old what does 5773 commemorate? Finally why can’t orthodoxy accept the fact that the universe is billions of years old? The Torah does not state how old the universe is. It does not diminish the concept of a creator in any way.
Limestone Caves: A Result of Noah’s Flood?
Late one summer’s afternoon in 1901, a cowboy named Jim White was riding through the arid foothills of the Guadalupe Mountains in south-east New Mexico. Suddenly he was startled by a huge black cloud rising from the ground in front of him. He reined his horse to a stop. This cloud was not like any he had seen before, so he decided to see what made it different.
Those beautiful stone ‘icicles’ you see hanging from the ceiling of limestone caves are called stalactites (they ‘stay tight’ on the ceiling). The forms you see growing up from the cave floor are called stalagmites. When they meet, the joined pair becomes a column. Sheet-like layered deposits on cave walls or floors are called flowstone.
How Old is the World?
The secular world continually disputes our belief that the world is less than six thousand years old. Their arguments are supported by the many stones and fossils which have been found, dating, according to their scientific calculations, millions of years back.
Six Arguments Fatal to the Theory of Evolution
On Feb. 2, 1937, a public debate was held in England between Mr. Joseph McCabe representing the Rationalist Press Association (RPA) and Mr. Douglas Dewar representing the Evolution Protest Movement (EPM). The RPA had among its adherents such distinguished biologists as J. S. Huxley, J. B. S. Haldane and H. G. Wells. Mr. McCabe was an Honourary Associate of the RPM. Mr. Douglas Dewar was Fellow of the Zoological Society and also a Barrister-at-Law.
How Evolution Makes Converts
The Theory of Evolution is still a most fertile source of modern unbelief in the Bible. It is fair to say, that popular opinion to-day is moulded almost wholly by hearsay, and the efforts of evolution’s journalistic exponents. Although Darwin never regarded evolution as a science, his professed followers improperly speak of it as such. To Darwin it was at best a theory “in the highest degree probable”; “which might or might not be true”. He showed that it was based on suppositions innumerable, some so improbable that few would be inclined to admit them. He freely granted that he could give “no satisfactory answer” to many difficulties, and admitted that certain geological and other objections were “inexplicable”.¹ This is evolution’s case at its very strongest against the account of creation in Genesis! As we hope to show, Darwin and the Darwinian theory have been misrepresented, with the result, if not the intention, of discrediting the Bible account of creation in the public mind. While every year brings fresh evidences of the scientific and historic accuracy of the Scriptures, which were written at periods when the crudest notions of science were current, and the wildest cosmogonies almost universally prevalent; we learn to-day from the lips of the greatest living scientists, that Darwin’s foundations are now largely discredited. The principles that pass under the title of evolution are suspect.
Light Created Before the Sun and Moon?
Question: In the book of Genesis (1:14) it seems to suggest that God made light before the sun and moon; He makes them in the 16th verse.
We Just Don’t Know
The following letter has been received, bearing upon the answer to Question 23, in the October issue. It is published with a view to stimulating study and further expression of helpful opinion:—
Evolution—An Outline of Some of the Evidence
Too often we rely on ridicule when dealing with evolution: to make fun of an idea is not necessarily to disprove it and we will not convince anyone by mocking. For this reason the arguments used by evolutionists will be presented as forcibly as possible, so that the strength of their position can be assessed. When this has been done a summary of the evidence supporting the alternative beliefs will be given. Throughout this article the most extreme form of evolution will be considered, that is, the theory which claims, that from non-living matter has evolved by chance the complex world of living things which we see about us.
Evolution’s Achilles’ Heels
This video and book project reveals the fatal flaws of evolutionary thinking. The Achilles’ heels of evolution are often in the very areas widely considered to be impregnable strongholds of this belief system. These areas are the topics systematically covered in both the book and documentary. They are:
Is Genesis History? (2017)
This film is a fascinating new look at the biblical, historical, and scientific evidence for Creation and the Flood. Learn from more than a dozen scientists and scholars as they explore the world around us in light of Genesis.Dr. Del Tackett, creator of “The Truth Project,” hikes through canyons, climbs up mountains, and dives below the sea in an exploration of two competing views . . . one compelling truth.
Science & Faith
In this episode, the focus is on the apparent tension between science and faith, and that there is no conflict between a deep religious faith and scientific research. And we should start with recognizing that the Bible’s purpose may have been something other than explaining how the world was put together in its physical structure.
Creation science or scientific creationism is a branch of creationism that claims to provide scientific support for the Genesis creation narrative in the Book of Genesis and disprove or reexplain the scientific facts, theories and scientific paradigms about geology, cosmology, biological evolution, archeology, history, and linguistics.
Creationism is the religious belief that the universe and life originated “from specific acts of divine creation,” as opposed to the scientific conclusion that they came about through natural processes. The first use of the term “creationist” to describe a proponent of creationism is found in an 1856 letter of Charles Darwin describing those who objected on religious grounds to the emerging science of evolution.
Young Earth creationism
Young Earth creationism (YEC) is the religious belief that the Universe, Earth and all life on Earth were created by direct acts of God less than 10,000 years ago. Its primary adherents are Christians who subscribe to a literal interpretation of the creation narrative in the Bible’s Book of Genesis and believe that God created the Earth in six 24-hour days. In contrast to YEC, old Earth creationism is the belief in a metaphorical interpretation of the Book of Genesis and the scientifically-determined estimated ages of the Earth and Universe.
