Omissions Made Good?
There are a number of places where the Septuagint appears to have preserved a reading, perhaps only a phrase or a mere word, which has somehow dropped out of the Hebrew text. A fairly well-known example is in Genesis 4:8 where LXX adds: “And Cain said to Abel his brother, Let us go out into the plain.” The words are important as indicating Cain’s deliberate intention to murder his brother.
